Buon compleanno Covid, sei cresciuto robusto in questo primo anno di vita, frequentando i Navigli a Milano e il lungomare di Napoli; hai avuto la compagnia dei tuoi cugini inglesi, sud africani e brasiliani e ora ti appresti a far vedere i tuoi piccoli muscoli in attesa della Pasqua!
Se penso alla Pasqua scorsa mi si presentano davanti agli occhi immediatamente due immagini; i camion militari a Bergamo che trasportavano le salme che non trovavano spazio per una degna sepoltura e le code di centinaia di metri attorno all’Esselunga delle persone che pazientavano ore per poter entrare nei negozi a fare la spesa.
Ce lo siamo dimenticati in fretta e sempre più sono i comportamenti incoscienti cui capita di assistere; il Viminale comunica che nello scorso week end sono state comminate 4.600 sanzioni senza però, alla luce di quanto si vede, raggiungere l’effetto desiderato.
Assistiamo al balletto delle cifre relative al numero di vaccini disponibili in Italia e in Europa; sembrano i numeri del Monopoli, centinaia di milioni di dosi disponibili che si sommano, mentre nel concreto gli ottantenni devono fare ore di coda per sperare nella buona sorte e ricevere una dose.
Dopo l’inverno però viene la primavera e sembra che qualche segnale di speranza si intravveda; la Sardegna in zona bianca (la prima; facciamo attenzione ai Billionaire del caso!) e il cambio, con il nuovo Governo, dell’organizzazione della logistica e del sistema di vaccinazione.
È sufficiente? Sicuramente no se vogliamo in tempi brevi riappropriarci della nostra vita; è indispensabile che ognuno faccia la propria parte con quelle attenzioni minime che però, per tutti, sono ormai diventate pesanti.
Sento la necessità di liberarmi da questo fardello e scommettere sulla possibilità di viaggiare, così nei prossimi giorni prenoterò una vacanza in agosto a Marina di Bibbona. Ottimista? No, sono convinto che ce la faremo!

If I think of Easter last year, two images immediately come to my mind; the military trucks in Bergamo transporting the bodies of Covid fatalities as there was no more space for a dignified burial, and the hundreds of meters long lines of people around the Esselunga supermarket, waiting patiently for hours in order to buy groceries.
We seem to have forgotten quickly, as we are witnessing more and more reckless behaviours. The Viminale informed that, during the last weekend, 4,600 fines were inflicted without, however, apparently achieving the desired result.
We hear confusing figures concerning the number of vaccines available in Italy and in Europe; they sound like Monopoly numbers, hundreds of millions of available doses altogether, while in fact eighty-year-olds still have to wait in line for hours in order to luckily receive a shot.
After winter comes spring, however, and it seems that some signs of hope can be glimpsed: Sardinia’s return to the white zone (the first region to do so, let’s beware of any Billionaire relapses!), and the new government setting up a new logistics and vaccination system.
Is this enough? Certainly not in the short run, if we want to go back to normal life. It is essential that each person participates in the efforts by observing the basic precautions, even though this has become tiresome for everybody.
I feel the need to get rid of this burden, and I am ready to bet on the possibility to travel, therefore in the next few days I am going to book an August holiday in Marina di Bibbona. Am I being too optimistic? No, I am convinced that we will make it!
