JUNIOR SOMMELIER

Inspired by the era of the Grand Tour, the Hotel De La Ville elegantly marries 18th-century architecture with contemporary luxury and unparalleled service. The interior, a collaboration between Olga Polizzi and renowned architect Tommaso Ziffer, entwines traditional design elements with state-of-the-art technology to stunning effect.

Main purpose:
The Junior Sommelier helps the restaurant team to ensure the best Guests’ experience is provided through a flawless service. Accountable for the effective management of the Sommellerie of the hotel. We expect personalised interaction with our Guests in order to deliver them the best culinary experience, whilst recommending and up-selling wines to pair with their meals.
Reports to: Maitre.

Main duties & responsibilities:
• Support in preparing the wine lists, purchase orders, inventory and requisitions;
• Assist the F&B Manager in monitoring stock levels and sales and suggest actions to improve sales;
• Cooperate with F&B Manager to develop special events about wine for our Guests;
• Providing an excellent and personalized Guest experience according to our service standards and procedures while leading and coordinating the team;
• Maintain a professional relationship with Guests and colleagues;
• Anticipate Guests needs and handle guest complaints;
• Keep the wine canteen clean and updated;
• Support in drafting monthly inventory of wine and all related beverage.
• Support the Restaurant team in order to deliver the service.

• Business orientation: Understand how personal objectives impacts department and hotel targets. Be able to follow guidelines and priorities assigned by Head of the Department in order to achieve goals in a timely and satisfactory way. Perform his/her tasks with integrity.
• Technical Skills: Demonstrate technical competence and knowledge related to the role. Look for Guest’s feedback and use it to improve service. Be responsible for own actions and behaviours.
We require:
• Fluent in English and Italian;
• Passion and studies in sommelierie;
• Knowledge of Italian cuisine and Italian & International wines;
• Ambition to grow;
• Flexibility.
