Located in the heart of Tuscany, Borgo Santo Pietro is a five-star, 300-acre boutique hotel and estate with a ‘farm to plate’ philosophy. It features 13 acres of gardens as well as a working farm, artisan cheese dairy and vineyards, and produces organic vegetables for its Michelin-starred restaurant and Trattoria.
As Head Gardener you will be responsible for managing the gardening team. Extensive plant and landscaping knowledge is essential, as well as a good understanding of organic methods and sustainable horticultural techniques. The role requires excellent attention to detail, a good eye, and dedication to maintaining five-star standards. This is a very hands-on role, so expect to get your hands dirty! You will need to be able to collaborate effectively with farm and garden staff, multi-task, and take responsibility for unexpected situations when they arise.
We are looking for a confident, committed and hands-on candidate with excellent communication skills. Our gardens are an intrinsic part of the estate, and as Head Gardener you will be the public face of the gardens and often present the estate to guests. You need to be highly organised and physically fit, fluent in English and ideally possess good Italian skills.
• Pest and disease management;
• Maintenance of systems, such as pumps and irrigation, swimming pools;
• Supervising the care and maintenance of 13 acres of gardens and landscaped grounds.
