NH Hotel Group part of Minor Hotels is looking for a Development Director in Italy.

The desired candidate will have a considerable experience (5 to 10 years) in the hospitality real estate industry, ideally with a hotel chain, hotel investor, hotel consulting or investment bank. Expertise in real estate finance and development, and an in-depth understanding of the hospitality sector are critical characteristics. Previous experience in hotel operations would be advantageous.

The right individual will have strong sales and marketing savvy and be highly adept at establishing and maintaining a high profile within the marketplace. This person will be extremely relationship oriented, with a consolidated network of institutional and private landlords, and  successful at nurturing long-term relationships that yield rewards.

The individual should be highly confident of their abilities and naturally willing to take on increasing responsibilities. S/he must be a well-organized, goal-oriented, competitive and results-driven professional. The candidate will need to be a consummate team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills up and down the organizational chart.

The individual will be highly self-motivated and drive, with a demonstrated ability to get things done. S/he should be highly numerate and analytical, be able to establish credibility and communicate a message. S/he must be a creative problem solver and an implementer of ideas. S/he will be genuinely approachable and open to new ideas.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source, anylize, negotiate and close new hotel contracts in Italy
  • Establish and maintain a strong network of contacts to feed potential projects to NH Hotel Group
  • Generate Leads which conform to agreed strategies and standards
  • Lead the negotiation of contracts (Lease, HMA, Franchise) and agreements (TSA)
  • Establish good relationships with Hotel Owners, Investors, Real Estate/Hospitality Brokers,    Development/Construction Companies, Partners, etc.
  • To coordinate other areas within the company for the successful signing of the contracts, including legal, Project, Finance, Operations teams
  • Monitor relevant industry trends and their potential impact
  • Prepare and analyze research on hotel markets and targets
  • Compile and update a list of priority markets for development
  • Attend relevant hospitality events
  • Take on responsibilities in regards to environmental management as assigned by the supervisor of the position, making sure of getting to know the environmental management system on NH Hotel Group and participating in a proactive way suggesting improvements

EDUCATION

The desired candidate will possess at minimum a bachelor or higher degree. Master and hospitality school positively valued.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of financial reporting (Uniform System of Accounts for Hotels), and knowledge of the different hotel operating contracts and their characteristics (leasing, management, franchise, etc.)
  • Excellent command of Italian and English, a third language is desired
  • Good financial basis in order to analyze projects
  • Good skills in communication and “selling”. Hunter profile
  • Ability to influence both internally and externally
  • Sense of business (business sense) and global vision
  • Knowledge of the hotel sector and analytical capacity of hotel P&L
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Negotiation skills
