Siamo andati a letto che Trump era riconfermato presidente degli Usa, ci siamo svegliati che, forse no. La sera dopo poi ci siamo coricati che probabilmente lo sarebbe stato Biden e così di seguito, in un crescendo di notizie, anche contraddittorie, sino alla conferma.
A marzo siamo entrati in un lockdown che ci ha visti imprigionati per mesi, a giugno era praticamente tutto finito, ad agosto si festeggiava al Billionaire a Porto Cervo e a ottobre si era di nuovo in piena crisi e poi a novembre si ricorreva nuovamente a lockdown.
Una vita tra alti e bassi come non ricordavamo e non servono neanche a darci certezze gli esperti scientifici, spesso più interessati ad apparire che a fare. Se non fosse una cosa drammatica sarebbe ilare la situazione verificatasi in Calabria, dove il Commissario responsabile della sanità si era dimenticato che era lui a dover produrre il piano anti Covid e se ne è reso conto soltanto quando nel corso di un’intervista glielo è stato ricordato!
Nel frattempo i ristoratori, in crisi, hanno suggerito un menu per i governanti, da consumare distanziati o anche assieme, in una unica tavolata. Primo: spaghetti all’arrabbiata, secondo: pollo alla diavola, dessert: la bomba nera. Il tutto accompagnato da un ottimo Nero, di un vitigno autoctono pugliese, il cui nome è quello di una località in provincia di Foggia.
Al di là delle facezie dobbiamo registrare in questi giorni la notizia del vaccino realizzato dalla Pfizer che potrebbe in tempi brevi contribuire a risolvere la pandemia. Se veramente funziona, forse non potremo andare a sciare in tranquillità ma, probabilmente, ci consentirà di fare la gita pasquale e goderci in tranquillità le prossime vacanze estive, catalogando questo periodo come un trauma vissuto nella nostra esistenza. Ma per arrivare a tale risultato è necessario ora seguire tutte le regole di prudenza consigliate (in questo aiutati dalla tecnologia) e con ciò evitare di essere tragicamente l’ultimo soldato caduto di una guerra vinta.
We went to bed thinking that Trump had been reconfirmed as US President, we woke up realising that maybe he hadn’t. The night after we went to sleep thinking that Biden would probably be the winner, and so on and on, in a crescendo of sometimes contradictory news, until the final confirmation.
In March we entered a lockdown that kept us indoors for months, in June it was practically all over, in August there was partying in full swing at the Billionaire in Porto Cervo, in October we were back in full crisis mode, to end up in a lockdown again in November.
Life has been on a roller coaster like never before, and even scientific experts, often more interested in showing than doing, cannot provide any certainties. If it were not tragic, it would be funny what happened in Calabria, where the health commissioner had forgotten that he was himself in charge of developing an anticovid plan, and only realised it when he was reminded of it during a media interview!
In the meantime, restaurant chefs in economic crisis have suggested a menu for political rulers, to be enjoyed keeping social distance, or even sitting all together at the same table. First course: angry spaghetti; main course: devil’s chicken; dessert: black bomb. All to be accompanied by an excellent Nero wine, from a Puglia native grape variety, named after a locality in the province of Foggia.
All joking aside, in these days we have to welcome the news of the vaccine from Pfizer, which may contribute to solving the pandemic in the near future. If it really works, we may not be able to go skiing as usual this winter, but it will probably allow us to go on an Easter outing and peacefully enjoy our next summer holidays, filing away this period as a traumatic experience in our lives. But in order to do so, it is now necessary to abide by all the caution rules suggested, thus avoiding the tragedy of being the last soldier to die in a won war.
