Decreto sostegno: un pannicello caldo quando si ha la polmonite….
Purtroppo mi è spiaciuto sentire, da una persona seria come il Presidente del Consiglio Mario Draghi, la solita frase retorica: lo Stato c’è. Quale Stato; quello dei parlamentari che hanno richiesto e percepiscono il sostegno per la propria partita IVA o quello del senatore Morra che sbraita a Cosenza per la somministrazione dei vaccini?
Lo so, è facile scrivere quando comunque non si ha un contraddittorio ma, consentitemi una volta tanto, un piccolo sfogo me lo voglio permettere.
Gli inglesi nella loro iniziale, nefasta, impostazione della lotta al Covid con la scelta di accettare i rischi della immunità di gregge, resisi conto della sciocchezza che facevano, hanno cambiato strategia e procedono a tappe forzate nella vaccinazione, tanto che nella giornata in cui scrivo hanno avuto causa Covid 17 decessi, mentre le morti nel nostro Paese sono parecchie centinaia ed assistiamo, in quella che, a torto o ragione, viene considerata la regione leader in Italia, ad una disorganizzazione nel processo di somministrazione senza pari. Sembra quasi che nei mesi trascorsi (sono 12 dall’inizio della pandemia) non si sia considerato che gestire centinaia di migliaia di persone avrebbe richiesto uno sforzo organizzativo.
Finito lo sfogo? Direi di si, anche perché i motivi per guardare avanti con moderato ottimismo non mancano e il principale è il riscontro che i vaccini funzionano e, quando questi sono disponibili in quantità sufficiente, abbattono drasticamente la curva dei contagi.
Ora auguriamoci che a questo decreto sostegno ne seguano altri (come promesso) e cominciamo a pensare alle azioni da intraprendere per tornare in piena attività appena possibile, evitando le negatività di dover fare tutto sulle sollecitazioni dell’ultimo momento; l’estate è ormai vicina ed è da lì che dovremmo ripartire per riprendere in mano le nostre vite. Ma se vogliamo veramente farlo dobbiamo cominciare a pensare e giudicare le nostre azioni anche in rapporto alla sostenibilità del mondo che ci circonda. Il Covid è un evento naturale che ci ha presi alla sprovvista e, impreparati, abbiamo impiegato tempo per rispondere efficacemente con i vaccini; i temi della sostenibilità e del green sono invece presenti da tempo, anche se preferiamo non vederli. È necessario cambiare atteggiamento perché, di fronte a calamità sempre più frequenti, non potremo dire: non lo sapevo.

The Support Decree: just a poultice when we have pneumonia….
I was sorry to hear such an upright person as our Prime Minister Mario Draghi make the usual rhetorical statement: the State is here. What State? The one of our Members of Parliament, who requested and obtained support for their own freelancing activities, or that of Senator Morra who blitzed the health agency in Cosenza screaming over the vaccination bookings?
I know, it is easy to write something when there is no-one there to contradict you, but allow me a little outburst, let me take this liberty.
After their initial pernicious approach to the fight against Covid, when they chose to accept the risk of herd immunity, the British realised they were going wrong, changed strategy, and are now proceeding full force with the vaccination campaign, so much so that – today – they registered only 17 Covid deaths, while we registered several hundred in our country, and in what is rightly or wrongly regarded as the leading region in Italy, we are witnessing unparalleled chaos in the vaccine administration process. It almost seems that in the past months (12 months from the outbreak of the pandemic) it was not considered that managing hundreds of thousands of people would require an organisational effort.
End of my outburst? Yes, I would say, also because we do not lack reasons to look ahead with moderate optimism, the most important being that vaccines are confirmed to be effective, and when they are available in adequate quantities, they drastically abate the contagion curve.
Now, let’s hope that this support decree will be followed by more (as promised), and let’s start thinking about what actions to undertake in order to go back to full activity as soon as possible, avoiding the stressful condition of having to act on last-minute decisions. Summer is close, and we will start from there to take our lives into our hands again. But if we truly want to do so, we must start considering and judging our own actions also in view of the sustainability of the world around us. Covid has been a natural event, which has taken us by surprise and, being unprepared, we took some time to develop an effective response through vaccines. The issues of sustainability and the environment, on the contrary, have long been in front of us, even if we prefer not to look at them. We need to change attitude, because, being faced with ever more frequent natural disasters, we won’t be able to say: I didn’t know.
