Que reste-t-il de nos beaux jours?

Non è vero che questo sia un paese disunito: le immondizie riescono a unire l’Italia; le madri di Napoli si lamentano perché i figli non possono andare a scuola come pure gli abitanti delle altre regioni, dove i rifiuti devono essere trasferiti.
La congiuntura internazionale è negativa e neanche il lusso tiene più, tanto che, in un momento in cui le borse fanno l’altalena con tendenza al ribasso, i titoli legati al lusso sono tra i più penalizzati.
Il governo è caduto e ci si domanda se per motivi personali (Mastella), per trappolone politico (Veltroni/Berlusconi) o per consunzione. Nel frattempo si ricorda – incidentalmente – che le famiglie faticano a tirare la fine del mese.
Tra breve, in campagna elettorale, si rispolvererà lo slogan «il turismo è il petrolio dell’Italia», per «coerentemente» sviluppare iniziative promozionali in cui ricordare all’estero che non tutte le regioni sono come la Campania. Con progetti simili la concorrenza internazionale non ha bisogno di fare comunicazione avversa a noi, ci pensiamo già noi per loro!
In cambio, però, abbiamo avuto per un breve periodo un sito, Italia.it. (mi ricordo quando l’onorevole Rutelli – con delega al turismo – è venuto in pompa magna a presentarlo alla scorsa Bit) che, costato una fortuna, nelle intenzioni doveva essere la vetrina del turismo nel nostro paese. Il risultato è stato così negativo che, dopo neanche un anno, è stato soppresso.
La condanna a solo cinque anni del presidente (ora ex) della regione Sicilia è motivo di soddisfazione e, allora, cosa c’è di meglio che festeggiare con un buon cannolo? Triste destino per questo delizioso dolce che in futuro verrà accomunato a questa vicenda.
E allora, se non si salvano più nemmeno i cannoli, non posso fare a meno di tornare a una vecchia, struggente canzone francese: que reste-t-il de nos beaux jours? (cosa rimane dei nostri bei giorni?).

Let’s ask ourselves : Que reste-t-il?

It is not true that this is a divided country: garbage can unify Italy; the mothers of Naples complain that their children cannot go to school, and the same applies to the mothers of the other regions, where the garbage is going to be moved.
The world economy is slowing down, and even luxury is no longer faring well; witness the poor performance of the luxury industry securities, at a moment when the markets are fluctuating and tendentially bearish.
The government fell, and we wonder whether it was for personal reasons (Mastella), because of a political trap (Veltroni / Berlusconi ) or out of sheer exhaustion. In the meantime, we are incidentally reminded that families have a hard time making ends meet.
In a short while, during the electoral campaign, somebody is going to revamp the slogan “tourism is the oil of Italy”, to then “consistently” develop promotional initiatives to remind foreigners that every region is not like Campania. With these types of plans, our international competitors do not need to use adverse communication: we are doing the job ourselves!
For a short time, though, we used to have a web portal, Italia.it , (I remember when the Italian Minister Francesco Rutelli – with responsibility for tourism – presented it with great ceremony at the last edition of the Italian Tourism Exchange) which cost a fortune and was intended to be a showcase of tourism in our country.
It was such a failure, that after less than a year they had to close it down.
That the (former) President of the Sicilian Regional Government was given only a five-year sentence has been reason for rejoicing, and what better way to celebrate than sharing some nice cannoli. A sad fate for these delicious Sicilian pastries, which in future will always be associated with such an event.
If there is no salvation even for cannoli, I can only think back of an old, touching French song: Que reste-t-il de nos beaux jours? (whatever is left of our good times?).
