Parlavo con una persona, dotata di grande sensibilità, che per professione consegna a domicilio, ad ammalati con gravi patologie, attrezzature mediche tecnologicamente avanzate, che richiedono attenzione per il loro utilizzo. Davanti a un caffè mi raccontava delle sue esperienze, che talvolta vive con malessere, soprattutto quando si trova in case in cui i parenti, che dovrebbero fare assistenza agli ammalati, se ne disinteressano o, peggio, creano difficoltà. E continuava dicendo che spesso alle sue osservazioni la risposta era la stessa: “Lei non sa cosa mi ha fatto passare…” ed ugualmente lui controbatteva “Se voleva vendicarsi, ha scelto il momento peggiore!”.
Negli ultimi due anni nel nostro Paese abbiamo vissuto (e stiamo vivendo) un periodo che dire complicato è poco. La pandemia, la guerra in Ucraina, il rischio di inflazione unita a recessione, l’aumento del costo delle materie prime, il turismo che, fortunatamente, dà segni di risveglio ma che deve combattere con due problemi: la difficoltà a reperire risorse umane adeguate e il rischio di instabilità mondiale che, per un’attività fragile come questa, rappresenta un’incognita enorme.
In prossimità di scadenze elettorali assistiamo ad atteggiamenti incomprensibili delle forze politiche, che si spiegano come operazioni di smarcamento per recupero di voti; cosa lecita e accettabile in democrazia, ma che ora, con il fardello che ci portiamo sulle spalle, induce a una affermazione spontanea a similitudine di quanto si diceva sopra: “Se volevate smarcarvi, creando problemi, non potevate scegliere momento peggiore….”.
I happened to talk with a highly perceptive person, whose job is to deliver technologically advanced medical equipment to the homes of seriously diseased people, and make sure that it is used with the due attention required. As we were sipping a coffee together, he told me about his experiences, which were sometimes quite uncomfortable, like going to homes where family members were supposed to be the ‘carers’ and in fact did not care, or even created difficulties. Whenever he made any remarks, the answer was often the same: “you don’t know what he/she put me through…” To which he replied: “If revenge is what you want, you have chosen the worst moment!”.
For the last couple of years, in our country, we have been living through a period that is disquieting to say the least. The pandemic, the war in Ukraine, the risk of inflation combined with recession, the increase in the cost of raw materials, tourism which is fortunately picking up, but is facing two problems: the difficulty in finding adequate human resources and the general world instability, which is a factor of great uncertainty in such a fragile business.
As we are approaching elections, we are witnessing unaccountable behaviours from some political forces, which can only be explained in terms of taking distance from issues in view of recovering votes for themselves; this is legitimate and acceptable in a democracy, but now, with all the difficulties we are facing, it can only lead us to comment in a way similar to the story above: “If you want to get rid of problems by creating problems to the others, you could not have chosen a worse time….”.
