Covid e Canzonissima / Covid and Canzonissima

After months of forced inactivity, we are now going through a positive period; we are regularly being informed about new reopenings; it is almost a feast, a long-awaited return to normality, at least in terms of new planning.
The reopenings reflect a spirit of optimism in the country, even though we receive contrasting messages about the advisability of relinquishing restrictions too quickly. Television, which is a faithful mirror of the ongoing debate, takes advantage of the situation by filling up programmes at virtually zero cost, stimulating (stirring up?) talks with very little to add to what we already know. The other morning, during one of the numerous TV debates, it felt like watching the old variety show Canzonissima. One of the participants said “What is the hurry?”, like in Loretta Goggi’s song, while the other answered in return “Summer is coming”, and here we have Righeira’s copyright.
In the meantime, Covid is trying to play its cards in the soccer championship, among “Serie A” teams with a supporters’ gathering of 30,000 people when Inter won the championship, and among “Serie B” teams with Salernitana, which did not want to lag behind in celebrating its promotion to Serie A.
At the moment, we are waiting for the Green Pass, the mysterious object which everybody is talking about, although nobody knows when and how it will materialise. It is just another peculiarity of the current situation, so difficult to come out of. Based on my own perceptions, however, there is some amount of optimism, and definitely a desire to restart. Leisure facilities are now in pole position, even though the current limitations – an obstacle to the return to normality, no matter how necessary – need to be revised before the system can be fully set into motion again.
Hopefully, the political debate under way will produce clear indications, responding to the needs of citizens, whether service providers or users.
